This is a local brinjal of Borneo, locally knowned as Terung dayak, terung iban or terung asam. Its scientific name is ‘Solanum lasiocarpum‘.

It is a favourite dish among the local people of Borneo, with various recipe including; sambal, smoked/grilled, stir fried, tomyam, as soup mixed with meat or seafood and many more.

Terung dayak will remain fresh for a week if kept at a dry and cool place.
